Just one question. Are all Canadian dollars referred to as a Loon, or only the one's with a Loon on them?

@Triggers Yes 1 modern Canadian Dollard are name Loonies not "Loon". From where come the name I will let others to answer, I do not want to go in this discussion.
YES, all modern Dollard coins are Loonies and 2 Dollard Tonie. Probably from alone "L" and from two "T"

@Silviosi, I did mean Loonie, not Loon, and I know you meant Toonie, not Tonie. :)

HeHeHe, you go by Australian way, I like this, for me is funny. No way from me to complain against. I just do not want others to say something.

Quote: Are all Canadian dollars referred to as a Loon, or only the one's with a Loon on them? I consider any dollar coin after 1987 a loon/loonie, I use those names interchangeably. If you're talking Canadian Dollar coins, my mind flips to the Voyageur design. That's just me though. So trig, I don't feel it needs to have a loon, as in bird, on it, just a $1 value. Like I said before, the flood of $1 coins is relentless here. It's a love/hate relationship, love the new designs, hate how many they pump out.

Nice find coinman. I have yet to see one of these, in either version. .
