I took a quick check of my 49-D FS-501s and none have that die crack, and didn't see it mentioned in the VV listing or Wexler's catalog. Could be something new there. But the coin has a lot of hits so I'd double check that it's not just an odd-looking bit of damage. Can't say for sure from the photos.

Maybe a lamination on the reverse?

Somehow it just doesn't look like a die crack. Coop? Crazy?

I'm thinking its a lam with circulation wear to round it up
Rest in Peace

I agree. More like a lam than a crack.

Very nice find and congratulations! I am thinking that it's a Lamination error on the reverse.

Seems to be circulation damage with metal piled up to the NW and worn off round.

Or a lam that started peeling and then got move and flattened on to that area.

Here is what it look like before circulation affected the die/coin.

crazybo I don't see any hits on the E if you look at it as a hit . with the new pictures I can see a depression on that center area that it looks like the plachet was thinner, I can see the different shade on that place , the weight is 3.0 close to normal.
