looks like a exteer lock of hair plus a die crack.
can any one comment is is a new variety

PMD, the forehead took a hit. As far as what I think you are calling a "die crack" is part of the design.

It looks like damage, but a better picture of the forehead would help.

I took another photo still can not get clear crack on right.
the lock of hair on left. does not show on my mint set coin, is it a different variety?
