Ben never looked better! Stunning addition. Is it raw or slabbed? A DC for sure. What did you pay for it and what do you think it is worth?

So on the wrong planchet coins, you do not have a silver coin, right? Did the mint ever offer to make it right to those who thought they were being ripped off? Even though the hobby looks and pays for such mistakes, there has to have been someone outside of the hobby back in 1959 thinking they were taken.

Hi Alan - I paid $10 for it, raw. As far as its value, I'm not too sure. I'm not really the best when it comes to grading. I looked around online and I've seen '62 Franklin proofs graded at PF-64/65 priced in the 15-$20 range.

You got a keeper there! Nice job. I know the feeling when you can get a nice coin for less. It give you hope that some of the gouging for 2009 coins will stop. At the Baltimore coin show, as you walked in they were selling the latest quarters for almost double face and the pennies for eight times face. I had stopped at a bank on the way there and sold them for face! It made some dealers unhappy, but it is the new hobbyists who will buy and one day discover that spur of the moment deal was not so great a deal.

Very nice set of 2009 S pennies. Did you buy them separate or part of the proof set?

Nice catch, that goes for $900 in high grades AU/BU when I was looking to buy one. I decided to look and hold off!

Congratulations,

These are two of my favorite coins, and they're lookin' good in my new type set.
