Hello all. I'm having trouble locating any listing regarding this 1951 Wheat penny I found in my coolection. I passed it over a few times thinking it was a hair until lastnight when I attempted to wipe it off. It turned out to be a crack that runs at angles from the rim across Liberty stopping at Lincoln. It runs under the Die Chip between BE and the filled in lower half of the E in Liberty. Any thoughts on this coin?

to the CCF! Those are called die chips. No added value and are common on 50's cents.

Thank you. What about the open crack in the coin I mentioned?

A better close-up would help answer that question.

That's quite a nice find. It is a "BIE" die break that is listed as "multiple" since it occurs between more than one of the letters in LIBERTY. The catalog number is LDB345678-1951-001 and you can check on cuds-on-coins.com for which stage of the die it is in but looks like a nice late stage like D or E.
