kdrcoinzz Valued Member United States 281 Posts	Posted 01/26/2019 2:25 pm Is this a planchet flaw? Why is the metal discolored? It appears to be uncirculated by looking at the high points. Picked it up for $10, never owned or even seen a off center penny before in person. Figured for $10 what the heck. Lol I mean I haven't seen a price guide or even something to go off of. once I receive the coin I can take better pics, these were from seller. Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 01/26/2019 6:48 pm The normal stretch is contained with the collar. Without the collar it stretches the coin so much the plating splits. Even in the collar the reverse often see split plating on the outsides of devices and on the obverse on the mint mark area. So it happens. Report this Post to the Staff
