I got the coins on Monday, and they were all 1922-25, and looked "BU" to me. Most were in flips, but two were carded. The most intriguing one might be this 1923 P labeled "Double Date." I don't see it, so maybe someone here can tell me what's going on with it, if anything.

There was more than one 1923, and at first I got excited, thinking I had seen a 1928.

That one is definitely a doubled date! Very easy to see.

Now that I take a closer look at the photo, I can see the marks on the digits. It's harder to see on the coin itself.

Is that a VAM, and does it affect the value much? I'm inclined to leave it in the card, and thinking about selling it, since now I have multiple BU 1923's.

I'll post a couple of pictures of typical coins from this purchase. I'm pretty happy with what I got even though Peace dollars play second fiddle to Morgans among you cognoscenti.

Actually, the 1925 is probably the worst of the lot. (Most of them have lots of luster, which is hard for me to capture in a flash photo.) I don't know if the discoloration is just tarnish or some ill-advised "enhancing" substance.

Also, on some of the coins, the outer parts of some of the letters and digits around the rim look squished. Is this a minting error? It doesn't seem like wear. (You can tell there's a lot I don't know about coins...)
