RW1010, that Quarter you posted on the scale was unfortunately subjected to acid. The size and weight was reduced, as the corrosive acid ate away at the material. The correct weight is supposed to be 5.6 grams, so 1 gram was shaved off of your coin. It's Post Strike Damage ( PSD). Only worth 25 cents, as this is only damage. http://www.error-ref.com/acid-shrunk-coins/

WAIT! This is a DDO, but you are not looking in the right spot. The Die Deterioration on QUARTER DOLLAR is not caused by the doubled die and is completely unrelated and coincidental. Look at the extra thickness and notching on the TY in LIBERTY and on IN GOD and the TRU in TRUST. This is actually a new major DDO similar to the 2018 Pictured Rocks DDO see links below: http://www.doubleddie.com/2422758.htmlIncredible discovery! I'd love to have one of these.

Tanman2001, good call! You're right! The Die Deterioration Doubling threw me off big time. I am so sorry RW1010! Mistakes do unfortunately happen, even with very knowledgeable members. My bad.

RW1010, if you want, you can have James Wiles from Variety Vista attribute it. I just want to warn you, that it will cost you 10 dollars a coin, if you proceed to do it. Make sure that you send a written note, saying that there's extra thickness etc. on "In God We Trust". http://www.varietyvista.com/Attribu...Services.htm

Wiles is probably the best course of action. Just make a note saying the doubling is extra thickness on IGWT and the last few letters of LIBERTY, so he doesn't confuse the Die Deterioration as well.
