There is a lot of bubbling on the back of the coin and I can't find anything like it on the internet to compare it to

@matt, first welcome to CCF. Second, @ijn is correct--the copper plating is missing in many places, letting the underlying zinc core show through. This coin is a spender.

This coin does indeed have a problem.

It should have been made out of injection molded plastic,
not copper plated zinc.
It would have cost the U.S. taxpayer less to manufacture.

Now, it's a complete loss.
Get away with spending it, if you can.

Probably the plating was removed on those areas. Damaged coin, spend it very soon. Will only get worse with time.

This is precisely what every Lincoln Cent made after 1982 unless protected, is going to look like in 2050.
What a mistake to make Zincoln cents is for the coin collecting community.

If a collector of Zincolns in 2050 has an
unblemished MS65 example from the period 1982-2000,
he will be the proud owner of an extremely rare coin.
