1980 P Nickel Possible Die Clash?

The rim of a coin stamped into the building? How do you know it was the rim of a coin made that mark? Do you know the definition of a die clash? Your coin is damage form circulation wear, no more no less. Spend it.

It is probably PMD gouging by a coin. That would explain the thickness of a nickel's edge. If you consider the process of minting a coin, there's not a logical explanation for another nickel being stamped edge-wise against another nickel.

Also, since you're still learning (and I am, too) a "clash" is reserved for describing obverse/reverse dies impressions on the opposite side and inverted. That means that even if the gouge happened in minting, clash would be an inaccurate attribution, although again, I don't think that's anything but PMD--there are a whole lot of ways coins get chewed up by the universe once they're in the wild.
