I received the half dollar from Hermz. The appearance of doubling on the reverse face turned out to be a photographic illusion. There is no doubling, only typical distortion caused by
Die Deterioration. The slight radial spread of the design isn't pronounced enough to qualify for a write-up. It's only when the design is cut off that such an error becomes a noteworthy "design creep" error. I feel it's still worth holding onto, though.
