Colorado Sales Tax Token 1938-41

Sales Tax token value 2 mills. When Colorado instituted a 2% sales tax these tokens were used for low cost sales that 2% was less than a penny. It was depression time and people did not want to be cheated by rounding up to a penny. Reverse is same as Obverse just different alignment. Token is aluminum, after 1941 they were made of plastic till 1945 when they were no longer made. I would assume that the switch from aluminum to plastic would have been due to the need of aluminum for planes and other war requirements.
