Looks like something is just on the surface. Not an S. Tryin to wipe it with a soft cloth

Not an RPM. Looks like lint or a scratch.

follow the 'dirt mark' around and take another look.

It's not the right size or shape to be another mintmark. It's an artifact of the imaging, a stain, lint, or a scratch. You're looking too hard to make something be what it's not.
