Ok, its interesting the money they award as prizes for the registry. https://www.ngccoin.com/news/articl...stry-awards/ I guess that can entice a few people to participate when they might not otherwise although some just enjoy the collecting and not always focused on return value or having to buy every type of coin simply because it would increase a registry set rating. I personally like the personal collections such as posted here that are done over time with lots of effort moreso than just money thrown at it only. Currency as well where people search for things rather than just go to ebay and simply buy them. Thats a collector at heart, like you.

@Morgans Dad, they have a number of different categories for each coin type like american silver eagles below, but more intended for graded examples. There are some reasons why OGP sets would be awesome, and actually the number of coins in original packaging has greatly dwindled in some cases due to all the crackouts over the years making such collections more rare over time. It will then hold more value since the packaging is rarer but more in terms of a later auction value possibly than a registry set ranking. In a few cases its mainly due to its possible negative effect on the coins ramaining in the package why such collections are not typical. https://coinsite.com/does-it-matter...t-packaging/

Very Interesting, @ Data, Prizes for the Sets Too..... WOW...

I am Learning, Your Comments make sense. An OGP 1986 Complete Mint State, Complete Proof, Complete Uncirculated, Including All Pedigrees and Special Varieties Series Set. That would be Probably My Equal as far as a MATCH set of Coins..... I have been on THIS set from 1986, Hard to accumulate in OGP...One at a Time....

I can say, Every Mint Marked ASE Made, is what I collect to date. I can see the rationale in that an OGP set would have an Optional Advantage to " Morf " into another Graded Set. . All according to how Well Struck Your Raw examples Are.

Collectors gather or Hunt what they will, I choose to collect the Raw coins as they were Released, IF you were Lucky enough to catch some during the Wild West NOON Releases, on their Site, They did Get CRAZY.....

Dearborn's ASE Set is an Awesome Lesson in,

A, Collecting a FULL Series Complete Set. ( he added a set of Bullion Too ).

B, Photographing as Simple and Crisp, and Clear Matching All Shown Examples in the Same back Ground, Smart Move imo.

C, Every Mint Marked Coin Minted, in the Set.

D, Chronologically Shown, in their Original Government Packaging,

E, The 1995-W is Included, in the Original Government Package Also...

In My opinion, My set is another OGP Set, Waiting to Become Another Slabbed Set, Sort of Speaking

Thanks for taking the time and efforts to Address the Topic, Registry Sets American Silver Eagles Series Sets, Not to mention the GOLD Additions.... I guess that's Another Set in it's Self Too......

The 2007 is Delicious...... UNCIRCULATED....... The 2014 is No Slouch, But I believe the Earlier Unc's are the Sweetest......

Not familiar with that one actually. Only knew about the 2008W burnished with reverse of 2007 from some links I saved. Since the Mint strikes approximately 3,000 coins per each set of dies for the Burnished Silver Eagles, there are approximately 45,000 - 2008 Silver Eagles with a Reverse design of 2007 in existence according to this PCGS article with all the other details (scroll down a bit to the article). https://www.PCGS.com/coinfacts/coin...-2007/396411

@ data, the 3 of us were being facetious. There is no such variety.
