Hi all,

I'd appreciate your thoughts on this dime as I haven't come across a potential die clash or vise job before. There also seems to be a small raised area between the 'TY' in Liberty on the obverse. Many thanks

Damage. How was it done? Really doesn't matter, but the coin was placed on sandpaper and then squeezed a vice transferring the mirrored coin image on your coin. The damage and the ring of the outer rim give it away. It is not a mint error.

Agree that it's just damage, but I think what you were trying to ask was if it was double struck, not if it was a clash. A clash is a completely different phenomenon where the dies strike each other without a coin in the striking chamber, transferring partial design elements from the reverse to obverse die and vice versa.

Also, you asked about the raised spot between the T and Y. If it is in fact raised metal, and not created by a dent or ding, then it would be called a die chip or die gouge. I can't really tell from your pic if there's a nick in the metal that is creating the raised spot.

Definitely PMD, probably deliberate.
