Dearborn Moderator United States 98849 Posts	Posted 12/10/2021 6:29 pm In 1942 the type I was minted in Philadelphia ( no mint mark) and in Denver and they were not silver either. The War time nickels that came after had Silver content and had a much larger Mint Mark above the Dome of Monticello. So in answer to your question, yes, it could be a type I nickel if there is no mint mark on that coin anywhere. Can you post up a picture of the reverse? the entire reverse... Collecting since 1972. They type one is the smaller mintmarks. Proof type 1 and 2: Type 1 plain: Type 1 proof: No type 1 'S' mints.
