Of all the "Hiberno-Canadian" tokens in my collection, this undated halfpenny is without question the one that most closely captures the spirit of St. Patrick's Day.
In my opinion it goes without saying that the character on this token brandishing that shillelagh and holding a bouquet of shamrocks is a leprechaun, but somehow Bell, Seaby, and Withers all describe him as a an "Irishman" in their respective reference works.
Happy St. Patrick's Day to all! Tom
P.S. If you're interested (or Irish!) I've posted an 1806-dated Irish token that actually features St. Patrick himself as a separate topic in the general World Coins forum.
