Not sure if it is a strike through, it looks awfully flat and still raised above the field. maybe it took a hit of some kind

That is a good question. What ever it is, it s above the field even to the right of the stalk. If it were a strike through, I would think it would be depressed or incuse. Could it be extra material (copper) from another coin or a fold over. Looking closely you can see 'damage' to the rim just right to the anomaly on the field and stalk.

Looks to me like some damage to the wheat stalk pushed metal to the right. It would be easier to tell in hand.

IMHO, it looks like the shape is an inverse match (mirror image) for and wrapped around the area at the rim. Can you provide an image of the edge of the coin?

If was wrapped around the rim, it might be a folded over but still attached lamination.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.

Also I'm glad I took more pics. I noticed another crack and I was also wondering about the doubling on tip of wheat stalk? Md or dd?
