1979 S Half Dollar, Type 1, Struck Through Metal Shaving Error On Cheek And Railroad Rim Value

CoinGirl2014 New Member United States 5 Posts	Posted 05/12/2022 04:03 am I have 1979 S Type 1 JFK Half Dollar still in the proof set case. It has a struck through, what I believe to be, a metal shaving on JFK's cheek. With a loupe it looks like a teardrop, however, under a microscope with 500X magnification it looks like a 6 or G. It also has the railroad rim error on both obverse and reverse. I have been to one coin guy in the city I live in, he said it is in fact a mint error, but he's never seen one before and had no clue what to value it at. * Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. * Report this Post to the Staff

I took it to a coin dealer where I live, to show someone in person, he said it's a mint error. If the blemish on JFK's cheek is a struck through debris error, what could something like that be worth?
