New to this forum. I just found an interesting $1 star note today and was researching it and came across this site. Serial number is A00000031*.
99.4% cool. It is in pretty good condition. Value? Who knows?

Welcome to CCF.
A lot of the value of modern notes, especially replacement notes is tied to condition. Without seeing the note, it's difficult to give you a value. The serial number is definitely desirable and collectible.

I will read up on the uploading photo instructions and get back to you. I only have a pic of half the bill since I texted it to my sons.

Coin dealer near here told me that the 31 star note is worth about $20. Does that seem accurate?

The 31 star note is pretty neat. It is in ratty shape. A similar star note with a serial of 00000061* sold on ebay in June for $271. So an evaluation of $20 isn't justified in my opinion. I'd put the value at maybe $200 or so by looking at the listings.

Low serial numbers (1 and 2 digit) are currently enjoying unparalleled success on ebay. The value is much closer to $200 than $20, and it doesn't surprise me to hear the LCS provided a lowball offer.
