Not my focus area but would like the practice, thinking XF40 on the grade

Looks to me to be in the VF-30 range.

I'd say it just makes XF-40.

VF-30 was my first thought...but if you cleaned up some of the gunk in the shield and letters on the reverse...I could be talked into VF-35

obv looks XF40+ and the rev XF45.

because of the overall sharpness of the coin I'm bumping it to XF45
