March Bump. We still need to get past 1341 C. E. (A. H. 742/741).

I did pick up an undated 1312 last month ... but looks like it will remain stranded.

We are now "waiting for 1341" to move along. The AH dates seem to be either 742 o 741. I suggest what we need is either... 1. a single 1341 coin, or 2. an AH 742 and an AH 741 coin. After either one of those happens, we will then be waiting for 1340 (AH 740). I know there was some debate, but if John's AH 742 is acceptable, then AH 741 will get us moving again. Could we come to consensus on that?

Quote: *** Artificial Intelligence (AI) removed per rules. Apologies, Thanks, a timely reminder to periodically check the CCF rules for updates. The following is in my opinion. The start date of an AH year is 1 Muharram. 1 Muharram, 742 coincides approx. but fairly accurately with June 17, 1341 (Julian), and June 25, 1341 (proleptic Gregorian). By either measure, AH 742 converts to 1341 using g the majority rule. (* the halfway point of a CE year being the 1st of July, inclusive). An easy way to check a conversion of an AH date prior to 990, is to use Fourmilab converter. I feel this is my response to bd21's previous post and takes care of the conversions and in my mind negates the need to also have 741h coin to get us past this blockage.(741h has one foot in 1340 Julian, and one foot in 1341 proleptic Gregorian and is quite rightly ruled out of either) Regarding JaniBeg, the coin mentioned in my previous post which shows it minted in 741h, gives legitimacy to a Jani Beg 742h coin being allowable for 1341 CE. So to get us past the blockage, the question is do we accept that @johnConduitt's coin is a 742h (I would vote yes), or do we wait for another 1341 CE or another 742h to be presented.?

I'm fine with moving this thread forward with what we have posted so far. Just my Two Cents...

I believe we are in agreement to allow John's AH 742 coin. So, what we now need is a 1341 CE coin or an AH 741 coin. I feel the latter is more likely.

Does that mean it is your opinion that when we convert to CE, the AH year should convert to the same Julian and Gregorian year? This would be option D in my previous post. I do like the use of the Fourmilab converter for this case (or the Calendar Converter for Near East Historians as it uses the same math) I've been holding my opinion on this topic because every time I think about it I realize that each option has its merits and can't decide which is best for this thread. I honestly think it doesn't matter as long as we choose one and stick with it.

I am going back to re-read the past few pages and will make a declaration...
