Is This A Japanese Bita Sen? - Coin Community Forum

My guess it is a Japanese Bita Sen, given the air bubbles in the casting, but the metal content seems reasonable quality. Reverse of coin is blank. Closest I can find in Hartill is 2.65 but the top of the left character is off-center and top center "flames" of right character seem to be tilting left instead of vertical. Wandering Circle Valued Member Hong Kong 176 Posts	Posted 09/18/2022 11:25 pm I think Hartill mentioned that most of the Japanese made Yuanfeng Tongbao (Genpo Tsuho in Japanese) were in regular or clerical script rather than seal script. So this is probably a Song Dynasty import. Looks like it's the larger 2 cash version in 29mm diameter (H#16.223). Report this Post to the Staff
