Why does the mint mark look this way? It almost looks like it's one over another. Just guessing. That's why I come to y'all, so I don't have to guess. Thanks guys

Looks like it is just a filled S mintmark to me.

A clearer closeup pic of that mintmark would help, but it looks a bit more like a D than a S to me. The post on the die that creates the middle of this letter was partly broken and this allowed metal to flow in a bit during striking. In more e theme cases (when that post is completely broken), the letter D would be completely filled in.

Also, would this be considered a thin rim or wide rim?

That is the Narrow Rim.
I believe the only Wide Rims are found on the P mint mark coins.

Looks like a die chip on the top of the 'S' mintmark. (yes there were 'S' mint business strike dollars that year. (not a proof coin)

Note on this image, it has the chip on the top of the mintmark. So it might have been from the same die.
