Hi guys, back in 2020 I Posted a topic about this coin. There was a lot of comments with different opinions about what it could be the reason of the damages in this coin. I was watching some videos about mint production and I Saw an image of the Leftover scrap and some pieces are very similar to the shape in this coin. Could it be this the reason of it?
Interesting theory. This does appear to have happened during the strike, seeing how the rim is not bulging outwards and no metal welling to at the edges of this anomaly, combined with that the reverse is relatively undamaged. You say that you posted this 3 years ago? are you able to find that topic to relate to?
Why are you reposting, you got your answer previously from Mike Diamond. "This is clearly a case of post- strike alteration" I don't think that anyone will change their mind three years later.
AH, ok, seeing the other images you failed to post up this time makes me change my mind. the grinding of the edge to keep the coin appearing circular is all PMD. Which leads me to think that something was pressed into this coin and 'tooled' to make it round again.
