In 1977 gold was selling at a little over $160 an ounce! If you would have had it that long it would be a nice little pot-o-gold!
Maybe there's more of a market for it in Canada vs the US? You might be able to find a local dealer for that little .9999 piece. Beats melt that's for sure. There's always someone, somewhere that are looking for oddities or unknown gold pieces.
