Thanks - buttons working! Quote:Aaaand...I have you to thank again. After the last post I was again looking at Canadian nickels on ebay and found an INCREDIBLE buy which is on its way here in the mail. The Capital Plastic holder (which I had always wanted) cost + the included 1947 dot nickel included put the value up over the price I paid... Only $45.00 shipping included . Cannot wait for it to arrive.

Just got started on my next batch of 10,000 nickels and I my 7th roll I find another 1948-S
For those who are just now following along it took me over 130,000 nickels before I found one. This is now the fourth one that I have found in the last 70,000
For some reason I still have only found one 1951-S

@ Earle42 That is one great looking BU 1942 tombac. I am envious of your purchase of the Capital Plastic holder & contents. Living in Ottawa, Ontario, we do get the odd U.S.A. coins in circulation, my latest being a 2000 D Sacagawea dollar.

Haha no new video yet, I've got another 8,000 left to search for the 210,000 video. The new kitten (Mitzi) will be in the 210,000 video walking across the nickels

http://goccf.com/t/69470#553244Here's a comparison of nickelsearcher's numbers at 200,000 vs mine. I've attached a link to his report and a chart of my finds. Pretty neat to see how close are numbers are for "keepers" or Jefferson's from 1938-1959. He found 2,550 and I am at 2,543 Below are His find rates as of August 2010 vs mine as of November 2023. These are the numbers of nickels searched on average to find a certain nickel nickelsearcher vs nickelguy88 1930's -- 1,754 vs 1,527 1940's (excluding silver) -- 213 vs 201 War Silver -- 3,390 vs 3,125 (nickelsearcher 59 found vs nickelguy88 with 64 found) 1950's -- 143 vs 148 When I initially started this I expected my silver numbers to be a fair amount lower, however they are comparable with my ratio being slightly better. This was and is very surprising to me. Liberty V -- 100,000 vs 50,000 (I expect my ratio to be more inline with his as time goes on) Buffalo -- 6,250 vs 4,545 (again, this also caught me by surprise as I expected my ratio to be less favorable than his) At his stage in set completion he was missing the 1938-S (I have found 3) and a 1943-D which I am missing. I found a 1950-D in my first box back in 2015, however I am not counting that for this set as I truly believe it to have been a freak chance of luck. The coin obviously came out of someone's collection. I found a 1947-D in that same box long ago that is in immaculate condition with rainbow toning. For that reason I do not consider to have found one. User nickelsearcher had found one at this stage while I have not. Here's to my march to 250,000. I have 8,000 left to search to bring me to 210,000 nickels and am slightly dreading it as I look over on my bar top and see them, hence why I am writing this snapshot in time vs going through the nickels! Ok, back to the hunt.

Never was a cat person until a kitten one day crawled up into my wife's lap while she was on the front porch. Now we have Westley...his sibling who died of a defective heart was Buttercup. I can think of nothing more enjoyable than having two kittens frolicking around the house! ...well...maybe them frolicking while I am roll searching would be even better!

The 1947 dot nickel must be really hard to find.

We have three cats. Kitty, the oldest at 15 years old, is the brown tabby. She's usually asleep on the brown couch. Felix is the black and white cat at two years old, and the kitten is Mitzi at maybe 3 months old.

We have quite a few cats of our own but my favorite of the bunch has to be Dill (or Delilah). She is ridiculous. Follows us into rooms and then cries when she can't get out. Jumps in front of our older dog Spartan's face.

And the hunt continues... No new additions. I did find a pair of 1955-P in back to back rolls which gave me a chuckle. Also found another 1948-S along with 4 Buffalo nickels. Oldest was a 1924-P that needed a nic a date treatment. One of them, a 1936-P, was an upgrader to the album. I'll post the video once it is uploaded. I have another 10,000 nickels on order for next week. I am still aiming to have 250,000 nickels searched by the week of Christmas. Maybe I will finally find that 1939-D or 1943-D by then. Finding both would be nice!
