I've never seen anything like this. It was in a coin flip among several coins that I purchased off of someone. I'm curious as to why did the collector have this in a coin flip. Or is it A mint error? Please don't pick on me too bad...John

Possibly, the original owner assumed it was a unique rarity, lacked knowledge regarding mint errors or just thought it was cool looking.

For fun, I put select badly damaged cents--of a wild/curious nature--in a Dansco album.

Yeah, which John - you mean me(John)? or John1, or Jon, or CuJohn?

This is a nicely polished (from lots of use) and very, very damaged - I do like the bronze color too.
