As best I can tell it's a large 5.

Also would this make a VG grade?

Denomination appears to be worn away on your coin so it is impossible to tell if it's a large 5 or not.

Thought it was the 5 in the date they were referring to from Coins and Canada no?

If it's the 5 as in 5 cents I can retake a photo of it. It's there albeit hard to see...but I wasn't really looking at that 5.

I just did a search on Google which brought me to another thread on this forum examining it differently. I'd still like confirmation cause obviously there's a difference in rarity. But the thread said the large 5's back goes straight up and down and the small 5 leans to the right. Also said the small 5 could fit between the 5 and the 8 if duplicated. So in that case mine would be small. Coins and Canada's didn't explain. Just showed images of the coins and all the smalls you can see a gap between the tail of the 5 and the body...where the large all appear to touch the body as is the case with mine.

You are confusing large and small date varieties with large and small 5 varieties.
The 5 referred to is the denomination 5.
All large date varieties are repunched dates, yours does not appear to be so.

You're definitely right. I'm confused. Lol

Thanks for all the help though.
