It's a normal copper platted zinc cent that got stuck inside the workings of a drum of a clothes dryer and tumbled until it was smoothed and part of the copper was wearing through. This is a zinc coin that got badly abused and sanded and reduced in size. Way back when I was a wee bit of a lad - we did this to mimic a dime to get pop from old vending machines. When soda machines sold bottled soda the necks faced outward towards customer, it was easy just to get a cup and use a bottle opener to pop the cap and fill your cup for free.
