@rec, doesn't look like a coin to me. Perhaps a temple token? I'm going to move this over to the un-Identified subforum until we know for sure what you've got.

With that said, this piece definitely has some similarities with 19th Thai small change, such as this Fueang:

However, I'm unable to find any coins with the elephant facing right. Maybe this is a made for tourism medal?

The elephant almost looks "comical" compared to other actual coins.

I too am concerned about the cartoonish-line-drawing of the elephant. The remnants of paint also indicates this is most likely a modern tourist replica.

Sure, there was a time when silver was quite modest in price. Also, it could be a lower purity of silver. Or, your piece may only look like silver, but actually be a base metal. Have you done any non-destructive tests like XRF or specific density to confirm the alloy?
