Just gone through a big batch of tokens/medallions and pulled out several of the usual WRL replica roman types as well as new ones I've not seen before marked either 'R' or Meku NP75. These seem to be higher quality, are these collectable in their own right? There was about 40 total in the lot, and knowing the rest were clearly replicas I 99.9% assume this is too, but it feels more 'real' in hand. That might be brass/copper showing through on some wear on the obverse but I'm impressed by the reverse and what appears normal wear on the details of a silver coin - quite scary really. I take it this is clearly fake to the trained eye?

I think it's a silver denarius of Vespasian. In my opinion it just doesn't look right. 1. You could weigh it, see if it's within the range of genuine Roman silver denari. 2. Hold a magnet close to it, if it 's magnetic it's fake. 3. If there is a coin store near you and they have an XRF, they could test it for you to see how much silver it has. 4. You could check this site, lists recorded fake ancient coins, see if there's a match there. https://www.forumancientcoins.com/fakes/5. If you can see copper underneath a outer layer it's either a modern fake or an ancient counterfeit called a fourree.

Well what is most odd is the scraping with like a pin on both sides. Like a bad cleaning job. Below is a search set up for this issue. You won't find another with that harsh cleaning look. https://www.acsearch.info/search.ht...=usd&order=1You would need to give a weight and show the edge. I won't discredit the piece before then. Is there marker hand written above Vespasians head like a museum piece might have, even if fake from the 19th century? And the letters can be soft sometimes. Like below. https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=8553766

And here are other examples from the Forvm fake reports.... These were originally made of brass and were part of a series given away with Nescafe instant coffee in Germany during the 1970s. They were marked with "NP75" (see below). Somebody made a cast and removed the "NP75" and these have then been made in "Silver" Martin
