I need help identifying a Mexican coin - blank on one side, and the other side has "Estados Unidos Mexicanos" upright eagle with what appears to be a upside down "J" underneath the eagle. It weights 7.41.
to the CCF, Wonder1003! There shouldn't be any marks in that area of the obverse, so I suspect that it's just damage. As for identifying your coin, can you provide the diameter and a picture of the reverse? The only Mexican coin in that weight range with the eagle obverse would be a 1935 50 Centavos. That coin should weigh 7.973 g and has a cap-and-rays reverse, which may be what I'm seeing on your coin. If so, the weight discrepancy would be explained by wear / damage. https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces30602.html

I can see that your coin is a 50 Centavos like the following. Rotate it about 120 degrees CW and you'll see the match. I'm still thinking that the mark on the obverse is damage of some sort.
