Those are Reed Marks, caused by the edge of a reeded coin gouging divots in the surface of your coin.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

but how does a such a small reeded edge make such a large indentations? I have seen numerous marks similar to this but mush shallower.

Dime, quarter, and half have reeds. Anytime you see incuse "scalloped" marks on a coins surface it's Reed Marks.
