New Purchase for me. I thought the seller had slightly undergraded this beauty, so I picked her up knowing I needed to fill the hole in my type set. What would you grade?

Very nice coin Johnny, looks original and undamaged. I see little wear and the soft detail on Liberty's drapery and the eagle talons might be strike-related. There seems to be some mint frost still remaining in Liberty's hair.

If there is any luster remaining I'd be comfortable with an AU-50 or AU-53 grade.

Very nice coin, I don't see much wear either, I'm going to say AU-50.

Thanks guys. The seller had it listed as EF-40, and I agree it looks more like an AU at least compared to the certified ones I browsed on heritage.

Yea wow!

It is a lot nicer than my 1831 that I have. I would say mine is F or VF (maybe)... This one is EF or AU. It doesn't really scream mint luster to you (AU), but it is 178 years old. It just looks too sharp for EF.

I am far from an expert on the series though!
