A nice cherrypicked specimen of. well, of a 1938 variety. The longer I collect these coins, the more muddled the listings get. Lack of photographed markers on the Variety Vista listings is a challenge, but even the Wexler listings on Brian's Variety Coins can require a lot of examination. This nickel could certainly be the QDO (FS-105), but I could also be swayed that it's FS-102 or another very similar coin.

For now, I am going with the QDO, as I can see at least tripling on the perimeter letters. Multiple hubbings are evident. You could also argue that the front profile is doubled, although that looks more like die prep polishing to me.

I can see tripling in some places, so I believe you are on to something.

Regardless of a final count, a very nice looking cherrypick!

Nice looking coin, great steps, almost looks like a proof coin.
Good eye on grabbing this one

Thanks, guys! =)

The longer I do this, the more apparent the possible variety coins become. Attribution on some of the years is tough. It's a pity about the strike against the steps on this particular nickel (and that bit of haze on the top reverse), but otherwise it's a superb coin. I think it will photograph well.
