Hi,
I'm looking through a roll of steel pennies and this one stands out because of the color. All the others are different shades of grey but this one has a lot of copper color. But I also see corrosion that looks to be from steel.
I don't have any experience except for this search. Is it common to see this color or is there a chance that it is actually a copper penny? I don't have access to a scale which to me would answer this question.
Thanks in advance,
Glen

Your first step is to grab a magnet and see if the "laws of attraction" can be met. There are lots of altered/plated 1943's out there in collectors hands.

It show a lot of "steel white" at the high points on the obverse, so corrosion is more likely the case. Yes! Get a magnet 1st!

Such a simple tool! :) And it is magnetic so it is plated somehow. Thanks for the tip!
