Obviously has the gap, dated 2008!
Worth anything?

Maybe in 2008 they re-used the 1966 gap variant? The one above looks pretty much like the '66 gap version.

In my humble opinion, it's a definite 'variety', but I can't say if it's worth any more than 20¢. They don't appear to be as plentiful as no gap ones, but until mintage figures are known, just hang onto it.

It may be due to a filled die, but I think the point of the wave is too sharp for that to be the case.

Thank you for your replies!! Found another one today, total of 2 out of ~5,000 20c searched, so kind rare, but not clear how rare.

I have some of these listed on ebay now...http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...RK:MESELX:IT.
The selling price should give an idea of value.

I've seen many of them on ebay lst month, the price range is between 1-3$ , once it was sold for 10$, but then simillar coins were not sold even for 4$, buyers are definitely are not aware how rare this coins or not.
Have already 10 out of 15.000 searched.

I found one ('08 20c with large gap) a few months back in change in aUNC condition... have put it away with the rest of my non-50c collection.

Peter from Darwin mentioned a variety on the '82 50c - can anyone share a little more about this? I was not aware of a variety for that year.

The only 82 50¢ 'error' I'm aware of is a Bitten Rim but that's just a random thing. Not usually something to be found on multiples of the same coin.

Hopefully Peter will read this and clarify it for us.

Highest bid was $15.50 for 4 of these coins. I thought that was a realistic price; in fact, I have given a second chance offer to the next bidder at $15.00 as I have quite a few.

The number I have been finding is similar to 2004 bighead 20¢ and they have been selling for up to about the same price.

Jeff
PS. If any member wants any of these two coin variations, drop me a line as I have enough to sell or swap some.

Well I actually thought it was a gap, I have put around 10 of them back into circulation because the twirl was thin and I thought that didn't count :(.

Nancy & Mulatto, the whole 1982 issue of 50-cents incorporated a deliberate "error", so it's not a variety.
It comemorated the Commonwealth Games, and displayed people participating in various sports.
One of the engravers had a different view, so he put in a non-CG sport: see if you can pick it ...

Regarding all these varieties of 20-cents: where's Yass; he has an eye for such details; and he noodles a lot. So, it'd be interesting to see what he has come up with.

Thanks for clearing that up Peter.

Yes, I was aware of this "error" - but wasn't it a demonstration sport with several games played as part of the official games program? This was my understanding but I could be completely wrong...?
