Page 2 of my album. The 74 silver proof has real nice blue toning which is hard to see here.

Does the 1974 S IKE have finning error aspects? Both Obverse and Reverse.

If Not will some one post an example of a FINNING error IKE?

Thanks

ADDENDUM

PART VI. Striking Errors:

Abnormally Strong Strike:

Finning

Definition: A fin is a thin flange that extends vertically from the rim/edge junction of a coin struck within the collar. It is caused by excessive striking pressure or a localized increase in striking pressure caused by slight die tilt. The extra pressure causes coin metal to squeeze into the narrow gap between die neck and collar. Fins can develop on either face or both faces simultaneously. A fin may encircle a coin or may be restricted to one pole. The latter is the kind typically produced by die tilt.

This is the first Ike I ever got when I was probably 8 or 9. My grandfather gave it to me randomly one day. It's a paperweight he told me. It keeps your papers from blowing off your desk. Not that I had papers, or a desk at the time but it made me feel really grown up to own such an elegant item. Still sits on my desk 20 something years later.

I always remember being so blown away how much bigger the round glass made the coin look. I would stare at it for hours here and there through my life and rolling it in my hands and watching the massive coin.

When I finally got a regular Ike from my dad years later I thought it was a miniature version.
