40Proof- The obverse has nice blue and orange toning with blue and brown on the bottom of the reverse. The reverse also has light pink and green but I could not get it to show in the photo.

Here's my first Ike. I had to go with my birth year to start if off. It has one of my favorite reverses for a U.S. coin, especially when it comes to cameos. I always think of jbuck when I think about Ikes, so this is directed at you. What is it about these coins that makes you love them? Do you admire the man, the coin, or a combination of both? I'm just curious. I used to collect silver Washington quarters, and I've been heavy into Morgans lately. However, so many people collect Morgans that I'm almost getting tired of seeing them. Since I like the larger coins (dollars), I'm thinking about putting together a collection of Ikes as well.

Quote: I have had these coins for many years, thanks for allowing me to share my post. Very nice! Quote: I always think of jbuck when I think about Ikes, so this is directed at you. There may or may not be a link in my signature, one that would indicate when I started collecting. Maybe.

I thought it might. I did not say it in that thread, but in later topics about how impressed I was with those Ikes. They really got me looking at them and everything below (half dollars, then quarters, etc.). They are without any doubt the catalyst for my becoming a collector.

Great looking Ike's! Here is my latest purchase - off of ebay: 1971 S Silver Proof Brown Box Ike It's a nice DDO- just trying to determine which one yet- it has most of the characteristics of the 71P-PR-DDO-029 from the ARED Book Pg 101-102.
