What is this coin? It looks to be a token rather than legal tender.

Hi, splatto, I'm sure it is some kind of a token, I can't seem to find in the Charlton though.

it is a toke medal issued in 1967... there are tons of them around...

It is a commemorative medallion, issued I believe by Shell Oil, part of a set with an item from each of the provinces and territories, all with their crest and floral emblems. The items are gilded zinc, and worth 50 cents to 1 dollar. There was also a folder to keep them in.

exactlly right and I will date myself I do believe each "coin" had the provincial coat of arms on one side and the provincial flower on the other...they also did a similar set with the prime ministers of canada....I did not know they had a value still though...
