Canada is releasing a circulating commemorative $2 Polar Bear (TWOONIE) with dual dates and a redesigned (new look) for their 10th year of the $2 coin. My understanding at this time is they are only striking 5000 coins in all? Anyone know any more on this subject. I bought six on ebay just yesterday for $4 each and I am sure the seller didn't have a clue that they are already bringing nearly $12 each on ebay? If indeed there is a 5,000 limit on this redesigned 2006 twoonie I can see values spiralling UPWARD very very quickly as the ones that do hit the open market will be hoarded very quickly. Looks like a real good grab to me!

I called the mint and was told the 5000 limit is for the 2006 Official First Day cover 10th Anniversary Two-Dollar Coin only. The firstday cover is $15.95 CAN

Yes, Shatsi, I just found out myself! It would appear the old Ebayers are using a little deceitful tatic as they fail to mention the first day cover part of the story. Glad you checked it out as the more I thought about it I became leary of that 5,000 number! None the less it will be a limited issue with dual dates so I am glad I grabbed a few.

Well my new $2 polar bears arrived today and I must say I am impressed. It is nice to add something new to my world collection and it seems I can always count on Canada and Australia to come up with a surprise now and then. Great looking coin in unc!!!
