Hello Guys,

Need your help here. I had these roman coins for the past 9 years now and these were bought in a group of an uncleaned lot. Some inscription were already worn out but my guesses of the last 2 coins are Faustina and Hadrian? The first 2 coins, I have no idea. Hope any of you guys could identify these and end my "misery" after 9 long years.

Thanks a lot!

Coin A is Marcus Aurelius - I think. 172/3AD, here is a very similar example with additional info:

Coin B is Claudius II Gothicus - 268-270AD. The reverse is PROVIDENTIA (goddess of forethought) AVG.

Coin C does look like Hadrian - probably with Salus (goddess of public welfare of the Roman people) on the reverse. Date will be 125AD +/- 10ys.

to the community,

Nice group of coins, I like the double strike on the Claudius Gothicus.

Thanks Bobbyhelmet! Coin A is quite similar to the 2nd picture of Marcus Aurelius. I tried cleaning it but the dirt really stuck.. That's the best that I could do. Is this a rare coin? If so, I must be extremely lucky since I struck something in a "dirt"!

Coins D and E are Roman Provincial - the language on them is Greek, not Latin.

Coin D is indeed Faustina Junior, colony of Pautalia in what is now Bulgaria, reverse Roma seated with Example on Widwinds.

I think Coin E could be Galba 68-9AD

Here is an example of a very similar coin:

Its certainly rarer than the usual coins found in uncleaned lots - its a nice find.

I like the fact that its still a little dirty - it has good detail and looks like a good honest coin.

Please do put pictures of your other coins up - sure people on the forum can ID them - It might be best if you put them into a new post though.
