SsuperDdave Moderator United States 23522 Posts	Posted 10/06/2010 7:14 pm I tend to use a stricter, Euro-centric grading scheme for any non-North American coin. Basically, grade by US standards and then drop a full grade. A strong AU50 US coin is barely gEF by that standard; "AU" encompasses what we'd call top-end AU55 or 58. Report this Post to the Staff

weavus135 Pillar of the Community United States 539 Posts	Posted 10/07/2010 3:27 pm maybe I missed the whole point of this string but I use Krause as my catalog for foreign coins. They don't list in most instances anything but your standard G, F VF, XF UNC BU and Proof. And they attempt to define these grades in the intro to the catalog by describing some grading criteria. I'm interested in the Euro-standard concept though. Where Krause says greater than 75% of detail is XF, what would the Euro-standard say about that as a grading criteria?
