Anyone Know What These Are ? | French And German Medals

The Bill Collector Valued Member United States 486 Posts	Posted 12/31/2010 5:03 pm Hi All, I'm new to all this and have no idea what these are. I'm not really a coin collector I collect you S Currency but inherited a US coin collection a few years ago from a close friend. Included with the Coins were these Medallions ?. The one dated 1904 is 68 MM across and 4 MM thick and marked Bronze on the edge, the one dated 1919 is 80 MM across and 2 MM thick. Dose anyone know what they are or what they were used for ?. Sap Moderator Australia 16949 Posts	Posted 12/31/2010 7:38 pm The second one is German, and celebrates the founding of the Weimar Republic in the aftermath of WWI. The legend around the reverse quotes Article 1 of the Weimar Constitution: "The German Reich is a Republic. The authority of the State comes from the People". The inscription across the centre translates to "National Assembly, Weimar, 31 July 1919", which was the date the Constitution was passed.
