Lincoln Cent Variety, Error Or Neither?

Irishraider Pillar of the Community United States 1454 Posts	Posted 10/20/2006 6:08 pm I know exactly this much about errors ~0~. I know even less about Lincoln Cent errors. Are these varieties, errors or did some kid take a hammer to them 40-50 years ago? Coin #1 Obverse Coin #1 Reverse Coin #2 Obverse Coin #2 Reverse Coin #3 Obverse Coin #3 Reverse I included #3 because it looks like the motto on both obverse and reverse are partly on the rim. Irishraider Pillar of the Community United States 1454 Posts	Posted 10/21/2006 10:32 am The reason I chose #1 was on the reverse at the top where it was flattened out. The reason for #2 was it has no rim at all. It is smaller than a normal penny. It looks as if someone cut the rim off but I can't find cut marks that would indicate that. It has a smooth edge just like any penny would. The reason for #3 was the positioning of the letters of IN GOD WE TRUST and on the reverse the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. Irishraider Pillar of the Community United States 1454 Posts	Posted 10/21/2006 3:35 pm Thank you all for the comments. I guess that is why I never bothered with pennies much. Spend way too much time just to find nothing. I guess my best bet would to sell these off by the pound or a set as the fees alone won't be worth it. I still have to separate by mint mark and then figure out the value of each to put on his inventory list. I guess I should have said more than 5% commission on items sold. This is my first time selling off someone's collection for them. Oh well, live and learn. Report this Post to the Staff
