can you guys tell me what you think a fair price would be for this coin based on the pictures? if someone could grade the coin so I start to get a feel on coin grading it would be great as well.

Nice coin.

Based on the pics I would say XF45-AU50. Gold isn't the easiest to grade and I dont have alot of experience with grading gold.

As for value with gold at $1520 or so per ounce I would be willing to pay $1,650-$1,700.

I would say at least AU-50. It has a very nice look to it. I would double check the weight and dimensions, or have a dealer look at it just to be sure it is authentic, though it looks good to me. $1600-$1700.

I would go a little higher on the grading based on the feathers on the reverse. Coin is a little dirty which is good too. Maybe it has never been cleaned. AU55...Don't see 1906-S often, but apparently no more value than a common 1904.
