Dirty Morgans...would It Hurt If I Cleaned Them A Little

But In some cases, you can do a little cleaning that wont demise the value of the coin. I'm thinking about giving it a whirl with these two coins...Any thoughts...sorry for the poor pic quality. Freedom Pillar of the Community United States 526 Posts	Posted 06/15/2011 06:20 am While I am not a big advocate of "Cleaning" coins, I would have to dip this one. You can't see any details at all. By dipping, I would use the liquid Sterling Silver cleaner you find at Walmart. One three to five second dip and the crud is gone. Rinse for a minute or two to get all chemicals off see what type of coin you have. The Sterling Silver cleaner will take care of all patina, carbon spots and such, so be very careful how long you leave it in. I believe they are both 1921 Morgans, can't be sure but it is a very common date, probably the most common date among the series and easy to acquire. Report this Post to the Staff

Sterling Silver cleaner does a number on Morgans when dipped for two or three seconds. It really enhances the coin but you must wash all the chemicals off under running water for several minutes than pat dry with a lint free cloth and push not rub to dry the coin.
