I did a Google search in images, and came up empty, but I'm betting one of you will know what it is. The reverse is a microscope picture. The obverse shows the size. I think it is bronze. The obverse is too messed up for me to try to ID the emperor from that, but the denomination mark in Roman numerals, "XXXX", was less common than the Greek numeral "M". As far as I know, the only emperor for whom Roman numerals can be found written like this on coins from Constantinople mint is Phocas. Wildwinds example, listed as number 640 in the Sear catalogue of Byzantine coins. On your coin, the regnal year appears to be "u" (5) which would translate to a date of 606/607 AD, and officina gamma (number 3). Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis Report this Post to the Staff
