I think all you guys from the U.S. need to get out more. My favourite coin design is this one. 2016 Kazakhstan 100 tenge - Legend of Tangun My favourite design on a series of coins and one I like to collect, is this one. The obverse of the Portugal 50 centavos and 1 escudos from 1927 to 1968. A series that I like to collect from the U.S. is the Roosevelt dime.

Quote: The obverse of the Portugal 50 centavos and 1 escudos from 1927 to 1968. That one is cool considering I'm half Portuguese and 1968 is my birth year World coins have so many neat designs, my ADHD in collecting would be all over the place. But that might work with those, just collect what you like.

My favorite would be this. Not because it's gold, but because I think it's a masterpiece

Keith67, love the reverse of the coin you posted, but I prefer the view of a different $20 gold coin...

Quote: nice toning on that Morgan, -makecents- Thank you! I unfortunately no longer own this coin, one of the very few I regret selling. Was one of the most photogenic coins I ever owned too, some just like their pictures taken.

For me, The earlier the better. I like the crude devices symbolic of liberty rather than honoring a specific person. The flowing hair, draped bust and capped bust series are at the top of my list but many remain just dream coins due to cost. If I had to pick a complete series to collect I am quite partial to the Indian Head cents and Buffalo nickels.
